A week before a new semester begins, the 51st HISSOC Exco organised a retreat for all History and European Studies (EU) majors to rest and relax. This marks the first event that HISSOC Exco has organised in 2016, and we are glad to start the new year with such a strong note.
Taking place on the 4th of January, our internal events director Eric with the help of Exco members organised the annual retreat and provided good food and entertainment for our fellow majors at Aloha Yacht Club. Thanks Eric for planning and seeking out this cosy spot for us to relax before lessons start again.

Games such as Pictureka!, UNO, Jenga, Monopoly Deal, Mahjong and the crowd favourite Cards Against Humanity were available for our majors to gather and play during Detente. Historical card games such as War & Diplomacy and The Taipans were also featured during the retreat, where History and EU majors get to see historical figures such as Stalin and Hitler in action once again.

Besides games, there were also food and drinks available for all participants as the Exco and some majors prepared BBQ food and quelled hungry stomach and craving mouths. From chicken wings to sotongs, there was enough food for all to enjoy and relax to the sunset near the beach.

At night, participants and Exco members gathered to take photos to commemorate this wonderful event.

Thank you all for making this event a success! We hope to see you again for the next retreat soon! Do leave comments or contact us on Facebook for any enquires or ideas for the next retreat.
